    Mites

Hey all. During my daily inspection of the reptiles at the store today I noticed our young male BP had little black mites. I wasn't worried as I caught them in the early stages and, (thanks to BP.net) knew what to do. I picked and killed as many as I could off of him and let him soak for 15-20 minutes while I cleaned out his enclosure. I sprayed him, his enclosure, and his hides with Mite Off and replaced the aspen with paper towels.

So my question is, how effective is Mite Off in comparison to PAM? Do you guys think I need to order PAM or should Mite Off work on its own without any help.

    Thanks.

    Re: Mites

Lets just say this, whatever is spilled in the factory onto the floor that makes PAM, is bottled up and sold as "Mite Off"

Hahaha seriously though PAM IS THE BEST, with mite off, be prepared to keep treating and treating. PAM ALL THE CAGES in your place according to the directions ONE time, and be done with it.

    Re: Mites

Alright that's what I was wondering. I figured PAM would surpass Mite Off by a long shot.

Anyone care to suggest a website that I could buy PAM from that ships to Canada? In the mean time I will use the Mite Off until it arrives.

    Re: Mites

Not sure about the shipment question but I can tell you why PAM is preferred. PAM kills the eggs. Mites have about a 30day lifecycle so if you kill them with miteoff, they will just be back in 30 days. And so on and so forth.

    Re: Mites

Reptile Relief can also be a good tool to use if PAM isnt available.

And I have HEARD of people using NIX lice treatment sprays, or Lice bedding sprays to treat mites. You MIGHT look into that if PAM is not available. This is NOT a preferred treatment method but HAS been done.

    Re: Mites

We have a tiny bit of Reptile Relief left at the store so I will try that instead of Mite Off next treatment. I'll keep looking for someone who ships to Canada.
