    Thoughts on my "Custom" Hide?

Last night after her rat Isabela poo'd/urated all over the place. While my crappy log hides were drying from being cleaned I made her this makeshift hide.

Do you think I could keep it permanently? Its not super snug but its very dark and she can thermoregulate all inside the one hide. Thoughts?

    Hide Box

    Size reference.

Old setup minus the second log hide.

    Thoughts?

Well I know it wouldnt be able to be too perminent(sp?) because of soiling the cardboard but as far as being snug I dont really have the experience on talkin to snakes to know what they like.lol I really like the hide though

As long as it's not all warm and no cool, you'd be fine. If it encompasses both the warm and cool side, then it will end up all warm inside.
As far as its cardboard, I don't see anything wrong with a 'disposable' hide.

It will get dirty very very fast. You can't reuse it because bacteria and mold will grow and cause problems.

It is also much too big for her, not snug at all. Snakes shouldn't be able to thermoregulate inside their hides, that's what two hides are for.

Log hides are bad anyway, I like that ceramic type that you have though.

I dont think you can keep it permantly beacause you might have to clean it and the cardboard might damp...also i think its too big...i will recommend a homemade hide with a flower pot or something durable that can handle some scrubbing.

As others have said, you can use it temporarily but once she uses the bathroom all over it, it is gone. Also, it is not very tight fitting at all..
that ceramic pot that you have in the last photo looks much better.

No offense but thats not a ceramic poy its actually a ceramic cave from a petstore. I think I bought mine from petsmart back in 06.

A ceramic cave turned up-side-down would virtually be the same thing as a ceramic bowl or pot. Really, it doesn't make any difference either way.
Getting all technical on the terminology are we now?
