Petition to remove PETA's tax-free status

I'd love to be able to remove PETA's tax-exempt status.... but does anyone know anything about this site where the petition is? Does anyone have any idea if it is even possible to petition for such an action?

Or is this just a site that wants to gather people's personal information for who knows what purposes?

I searched a bit and it looked legit. This blog even mentions seeing an Ad for it in the NY Times.
