Getting rid of mites
I'm pretty sure I have mites, my BP was soaking yesterday for the first time, today I changed his water dish and saw a bunch of little red specs in the water dish. Very small hard to actually tell what they were, but I'm pretty sure they were mites. How can I go about getting rid of them? I read the sticky on the prevent a mite, but I haven't found any info on what steps I need to take to get rid of them. Thanks!

By the Provent a mite and read the instructions on the can. You will never fully get rid of them whit any other products.

Re: Getting rid of mites
What I did was take out the substrate clean the cage real good, then put paper towels. Soak all the hides and plants, sticks whaterver else you got in hot water to kill the mites. You can buy reptile mite killer that you can wipe down your snake with. You can also rub your snake down with mineral oil, this causes the mites to let go of the snake (usually). Use a Q-tip with mineral oil and gently massage the scales that have mites under them to get them to come out, it dosnt always work. Keep changing the papertowels often, hopefully within 2-3 weeks mites all gone.

Seconding the Prevent-A-Mite. Best stuff for getting rid of the little pests, and their eggs. Just make sure to read and follow the directions exactly.
