I never bought into the "let him wrap around your neck" theory. Personally, I think it's one of the craziest things you can do with a constrictor of any type. It takes very little pressure to fracture your larynx, or windpipe and cause fatal injuries. Even if the snake didn't mean to do it, once that happens, it's all over.
Regardless of how long you have owned your snake, something like this is always a possibility. Lesson learned and thank God it wasn't a lesson learned too late.
