    Age old calcium question

I take care of my beardie pretty well I think. However, recently I came across some site that recommended giving d3 only once a month or so. I give it once a week. Is that too much? Because that sounds like standard to me since I've started with beardies. So I'm all confused now. Its like when you think you know how to take care of your beardie, and then one little thing just mixes you all up for no reason. I mean I dust crix with calcium. I have uvb bulbs (I recently got a preference for the new zilla desert 15 watts which I heard are new, anyone know about that too?). And apart from all of that I give him d3 once a week. What do you think?

    Re: Age old calcium question

D3 was before good UVB sources... Now, with high output uvb, no D3 should be given.

With the D3, they can easily overdose on calcium.

    Re: Age old calcium question

Yea, I say d3 should be limited significantly to once a month. Thats what I would do. I'm using mvb's so its very rare when I give d3 for my bearded dragon. But my cousin Jake has his beardie on the same zillas desert lights, so I'm guessing they give off enough uvb to process calcium because he gives his beardie d3 once a month like I said.
I wish there would be like a universal care sheet that everyone could agree on and go by since one always ends up getting confused about these things again and again.

    Re: Age old calcium question

Growing babies need calcium much more during bone development.

I give my growing and gravid beardies Herptivite weekly, it contains alot more than just calcium.
