Everything sounds good except for the heat lamp. If you have the UTH you do not need a heat lamp. Other than that you sound like you're good to go!

X2 I don't use my heat lamp at all. It dries it out too much. and my temps stay perfect. Make sure to set everything up before you get the little one. Just to be sure all the guages are reading, and the temps have time to adjust, as well as the humidity. Are you getting one from a breeder, or a pet store?

Don't use a lamp unless you need it. It's not what you want, it's what your snake needs. I'm sorry if you spent some extra money, but if your housing stays a good temp, and you turn on that lamp it's going to burn your snake. You can use the dimmer, but most likely the lamps isn't going to turn on very often.

    Re: good seup?

I use lamps, because like you, my house stays around 67 in the winter, so keeping ambient temperatures at 80 is impossible without one. I use a red "party light" that I bought from wal mart. It's 25 watts and works great for my needs (cheap too). In order to keep humidity up, I put the water bowl under the lamp and I have no problems. Make sure you cover the top screen with foil or plastic or something to keep the humidity in and you'll be set.

    Re: good seup?

hmmmm. i've seen people using a heat cable, but you would have to get a different thermostat. But you shouldn't need to measure the air above him. He regulates temps through his belly. So you should be measuring around his substrate. Sorry, I was biting at you. I thought you meant you had the lamp for a pretty red light. I wasn't understanding that you did need one. lol.
