    Just 1 egg... question~

    Last night, my normal female layed 1 egg.

    She got more eggs(I think 5~6more), but not to try laying.

    Is it ok? How long does it take laying eggs?

    plz answer me.

    I've only had two clutches, but both of mine were within one night. It sounds like you may have a girl that may be egg bound. You may want to take her to a good herp vet, if you have that option.

    Re: Just 1 egg... question~

    My female Ball Python had to go to a Herp vet due to being egg bound. She lost her whole clutch in the process though. This happened before I got her, but the previous owner showed me the vet bill. Over $700 for the procedure. Due to her not succeeding with her clutch, I will not attempt to breed her again. I wouldn't wait to see what happens with her. A speedy trip to the vet is in order to ensure her safety!

    How do you know she has more? How long has it been since her last shed?

    OK, now don't all yell at me but if she were mine I would put some nice warm water in the bath and give her a warm swim for 5 minutes. Whilst typing that I remembered what I had read, it could be just one extra large egg blocking the exit. Can you see an egg at the vent ? Is there a bulge right by the vent ? If so then it would be good to help her to get that egg layed and so clear the way for the rest.

    Just sugestions....

    According to Kevin McCurleys "The Complete Ball Python";
    Day 40 post shed @ appropriate temperatures is when it gets critical.
    He says that "if a female passes one or several eggs and stops laying, a day passes, this female is eggbound."

    I agree with this; warm and moist might help if the egg is a biggie.
    If the oviduct is twisted, you may have to take her to a herp vet or an experienced breeder. I do know that the female deposits a protective layer on the eggs as they are layed, so if they are removed surgically the eggs will not survive.

    Best of luck with this, I hope she starts laying on her own for you!
