...what the heck is wrong with people?!

    Injurious species?!

Neighborhood "outside cats". as they are lovingly called, are more of a danger to our eco system than bps.... And on another note, whens the last time your BP ferociously attacked someone? How many people get mauled by dogs?

Excellent point! ... Keep an eye out on S373 on GovTrack.us (link below).

If this bill actually starts picking up co-sponsors we're going to have to be all over it!

As far as I'm aware, right now, this thing is just hanging out there looking for some friends.

    Adam,

I'm pretty sure at least BP.net will be looking for you and Brian to lead the way again.

So far you guys are doing a kick ass job.

I think that even though HR669 probably won't get passed, it's an excellent way for the reptile community to come together.

FYI if this passes all pythons automatically get put on the banned list of HR669... meaning we can't petition to have them approved

Unfortunately the idea of petitioning any bill for approval of a specific species is really a pipe dream. The language in HR 669 certainly makes it sound like someone would be able to petition USFW to have a species considered for the "Approved List", but the reality is that a 4 year scientific analysis could end up costing in the millions and as HR 669 is written, the petitioner would be responsible for the cost. In the case of a species like Ball Pythons, it's hard to foresee that anyone would be able to put together millions of dollars to pay to have a scientific analysis done in order for the species to be considered for the approved list. And even if the money was there, there is no guarantee that the USFW couldn't still find some way to consider ball pythons as "invasive" and have the permanently placed on the "Unapproved list".

HR 669 was designed to make it impossible for average Americans to have a species even considered for the Approved List on purpose. It's a terrifying piece of legislation and EVERYONE needs to step up and do their part.

This week, is the last week of spring break for Congress. Your Representative is at home in YOUR state. Call and politely demand a meeting with your Rep or ANYONE from his/her staff. Tell them you only need 5 minutes of their time to express your concerns over HR 669 and how it will affect you and your family. You only have until Thursday at the most, so make those calls tomorrow.

If anyone needs help figuring out how to make the meeting happen or help figuring out what to say, please ... please ... don't hesitate to email info@nohr669.com to ask for help. We'll do whatever it takes to get you in with your Rep.

Thank you for all of your support and efforts!
