Ball pythons are nocturnal. They don't need natural sunlight at all whatsoever.

A week isn't really that long to go without food. I would offer food every 7 days though. The snake is on the small side. Usually a full grown BP has no problem going off feed for a few months. This one is far from full grown and could have problems if it doesn't eat regularly.
