Re: balls at pet stores please read!!!!

Sounds like one of the cleaner pet stores. I have seen so much worst. I can't even go to pet stores anymore.

But any who, i go to this pet store which also doubles as a gardening store and it carries 3 snakes a king a corn and a ball, first all and most importantly in my opinion is the ball, it was kept in terrible conditions
OKay... lets hear of the terrible conditions

i think there was something that was supposed to be a hide. it was a blue square that might of been made to look like a rock that was lifted off the ground, on accident perhaps. That was perhaps their sorry excuse for a hide
Yea? So YOU don't think the hide was pleasing to the eye? At least he has a hide.

moving on...the snake was sitting in the middle of the aquarium in the open just sitting there...it broke my heart.
Snake sitting in the middle... Why would this break your heart?

The water dish was a huge blue container it had too much water, it would be better off as a pool then a drinking dish.
Oh please, I'm not one to be THAT picky about pet store conditions. There is nothing wrong or terrible with offering a large water bowl!

there was fecal matter and old shed skin littering the aquarium its so rediculous.
Given your propensity to stretch the gravity given the hide and waterbowl, I have to question this "littering" as you call it.

I would of bought the snake and tried to save it from its certain death in that crap hole
It doesn't sound terrible to me.... What's the 'crap hole' aspect?

I'm still waiting to read these horrible conditions. Everything you describe sounds unpleasant, but not terrible/horrible/animal cruelty "shut down that pet store!".

The only thing I would mention is the fact they didn't pick up the fecal matter, which I suspect talking to them would accomplish, and I still question given the over dramatic reaction to some very simple common things.

I mean lets all face it, pet stores, well most of them look clean, then when you turn the reptile corner the aspect of the store changes. A lot of your stores cant find people that will deal with resptiles, so yes they do to some extent not get taken care of, or minimal. Fear of snakes, spiders and stuff among that are your most common fears of people. Then again some people just don't care.

i agree, and one thing id have to say is not all pet stores are the root of all evil.

there are some that employ people who do a great job and care about the animals. and then there are some that are the opposite. the fear of reptiles has allot to do with it i can bet $100. the delivery driver for my local pet store. i know him personally. he is petrified of snakes... he carries a small box with a BP in on a dolly and then runs away as fast as possible. so there is an example. Some times the employed are not meeting the job description. but its not ALL the time.

You just have to try to give people the benefit of the doubt.

Thats like people saying: snakes are evil, because of a bad experience with one snake?

Then us walking in a pet store saying: your snakes are in bad conditions.

We're acting just like them in the sense were judging before we know everyhing. The shed skin, may of just been laid, yes it may of, then again maybe not. Lets all use our reptile knowledge here and justify the Poo & the Shed skin on the same day? The chance of that happening? I'm sure it was probably a day old, maybe longer. When you have a huge store, alot of things to take care of, not just animals, and possibly because of the economy having a hard time hiring people? They may not be doing alot of business, so they can't get to everything right away. I know a few pet stores, that I wish I could help out by taking care of some of their animals because I know they're busy and only have a few good employees who actually give a hoot.
