My python is sick
I took in this new ball. She has mucus. How can I help her get well?

Re: My python is sick
Mucus can be from a few different things. She could have a RI, or she could just have something irritating her mouth. How bad is the mucus? Do you see it dripping out, or when her nose touches you, is it just a little damp?

Yea ditto, keep away from any other snakes and wash your hands well after handling. Keep the temps raised if looks like a resp. inf. and go to a vet ASAP, hope she gets better

The simple answer is - you need to take her to the vet to get her well.

Re: My python is sick
What vet do I go to? Any vet or is there a special reptile vet that knows these things well and knows exactly how to cure them?
So what will they do at the vet? Can she heal in time just like we have a cold? Is this life threatening? Has anyone had this problem before? Please share your experience and what you did. Thanks.

Re: My python is sick
RI are very contagious to any other snake you may have and is extremely life threatening. You should try to find a herp vet, but if you can't get it to a regular one they will prescribe a course of antibiotics (most likely injections) every 2-3 or 4 days until cleared up, usually 21 days or so. Where do you live?
Many members have dealt with RI-go to the vet asap.

Re: My python is sick
Just start calling vets in your community. Ask who has experience dealing with a possible respiratory infection in a snake. If you have a zoo you could also try calling there and asking for who takes care of the zoo's snake collection.
