What do you think the chances of a female becoming gravid if she only locked one time during her cycle? Just wondering how often a wild female would lock and how long a male would stay with her after they unlocked.
What size folicals are large enough to stop pairing?

I had a small female lock with my spider 'just once baby' and produce 3 eggs. I wasnt actually intending to breed her; it was a newbie mistake.

I would imagine the odds of her becoming gravid would be related to when in her cycle she locked. If she locked FAR away from ovulation...chance would be smaller...say she locked a week before ovulation, I would think a strong chance. Females store sperm...but I don't think we have any quantitative data as to the viability of this sperm over time.

I would say its not a guarantee by no means but still completely feasible. My spider girl locked with my mojave back in december and once with my pastel in jan and one more time with the pastel in early march, and she just ovulated. And had some females that locked up fifteen times that im pretty sure wont go this year. Think its all a matter of the female and having the right conditions to go vs the quantity of locks.

On my ball python breeding video Collette Sutherland mentioned that she discovered two females that had large follicles, they were bred once (if I remember correctly, a 'friend' stole my video and havent heard from him in 2 years) and she said there was only one fertile egg in each clutch.

I have two females that are in their pre-lay shed that have only been bred twice at the moment.

i remember one of the bigger breeders saying that they only give their females one lock and then they stop breeding her.
personally I keep pairing until they ovulate or until they just won't lock up anymore. my opinion is that before they ovulate you want to get some good fresh sperm in there.

. I mean come on it always happens the one time that you playyed back in the day you become a teen day .. I just bing smart but it only takes one time for somethign to happen all Iam saying it just chance.
