Re: Keep me and my girlfriend in your thoughts

Congrats on the birth of your son dude!

I hope you and your girl are able to work it out. Trust me, with a child now involved, it's going to be a long difficult road ahead but it's SO worth it. My bf (solidsnaker) and I did not plan or expect to have our son when we did, we were both kinda young and had only been dating/living together for 2 1/2 months! (we were friends for a couple months before that but still!) anyway, 5 years later and a ton of crap later, we're still together and much happier at this point in our lives! there were times were we thought about just giving up on the relationship but realized our love for each other was strong and worth fighting for. Oh and FYI, patching up a relationship may be hard for the first couple months if your gf has any postpartum depression...I did and boy i thought for sure me and my bf wouldn't make it through but we did...

gosh i sound like a "dr. phil" lol anywho, i'll shut up now and i wish you the best of luck! ~~sending good vibes and luv to you guys~~

Feel free to send any PMs if you have any questions on how we dealt with Postpartum depression. It's a rough, rough road and the more you know, the better it'll be for you and your family!

Again, thank you all very much.
Congratulations on the birth of a healthy boy!

My first child was an unplaned C-section so be kind to her right now. It's not a nice way to enter into motherhood the first time around.

Just try to remember that pregnancy is always stressful on us women, being young and not planning for having the baby just makes it that much tougher on the mom and on you trying to deal with her emotions and fears and your own as well. The next few weeks will also be rough as she adjusts to caring for a fully dependent infant and you adjust to fatherhood and whatever role the two of you decide you will have in her and the baby's daily life.

Even in the best of situations dads often end up just having to bite their tongues around new moms. Ask my husband LOL. Even though our last was my 4th and I certainly knew what to expect, being sleep deprived with your post-pregnancy floppy belly and your sore boobs (and her had to have a abdominal birth) - well it can make any female really, really, REALLY oversensitive. Learn to grit your teeth and look supportive!

In the end, whatever you and she work out as your relationship, you've both been given the blessing of this wonderous new life to love and raise. You'll never be the same man, but you'll be better because you're a dad now.

Re: Keep me and my girlfriend in your thoughts

And just one more thank you to everyone out there. Alex, my gf, was able to go home today. It was a perfect day for it, with the snow and freezing rain and all. But she made it home ok and so did our son, Devin Michael.

This may not be what I wanted in life, but I stood by her during the hardest part, while she was in the hospital and was there in the delivery room with her. Where we go from here I do not know. We either take the long difficult road of building back all that we lost of our relationship, and see if the attraction comes back, or we go our own separate ways. Either way I am confident that he will have a great life either with his mother, or with us together.

    For anyone who cares....

Well, it sounds like you have the right attitude with things. Adorable baby by the way, even to me, the non-kid person
I wish the both of you the best in all of this.
