Re: Too fat to work...
For some people there are valid reasons that they cannot loose weight. Some is genetices, but there are alot of health conditions and/or the medications to treat health conditions that can make it impossible to loose weight.
hypothyroidism is one of the most common that cuases wieght gain. Also if you ave any physical challenges like back problems due to injury or if you are paralyzed in any way that can make it hard to get the proper exercise. For some too with the economy may have jobs that are desk jobs who are forced to work more than the average full time just to feed thier families, then they get home and have to care for thier families so I can see how some just dont have time to look after themselves.
My family definatly has geneitc obesity. both my parents had the problem. Some genes just give you a low metabolism. my sister and i are both bigger. Where I am not severly obese I am overwieght and it is hard when you try everything and nothing works. I am unable to loose any more weight, took 2 years to drop 20 pounds, I am just able to maintain it and only by undereating.
thise people clearly dont try though, just from what they say they eat in a day. All that greese, yuck, I hate anything greasy make me want to hurl.
What they eat in a day I might have in an entire week, calorie count i mean i wouldnt eat the kinds of food they are eating.
what sucks is that healthy food is expensive. another reason to eat less. I cant stand burgers and pizza, and hotdogs and all that stuff you can get for cheap at fast food places. Getting a nice healthy meal of lean chicken, veggies, fresh fish, all that good healthy stuff, which I way prefer is definately more money and for someone on the go all the time its not very convinient either. Takes 2 minutes to grab a burger in a drivethrough, taks an hour to go to a restaraunt or make it at home. If they served an affordable home cooked lean meal at a drivethrough around every corner I dont think there would be as many obese people as there is.
unfortunately they have just made cheap and convinient unhealthy. Sugar and fat is cheap to buy so thats what places have to offer.

Re: Too fat to work...
Weight aside, I think that the whole family is just abusing the system, and sadly that happens here in the states a lot
IMO eating healty is actually not all that more (if any) expensive, it just isn't as easy to do. I know I spend way less money cooking my family a healthy meal than I do taking them out to eat at a fast food joint.

Re: Too fat to work...
Eating healthy is not that hard in fact.
A rice steamer from wal-mart costs about $15, and takes approximately 15-20 mintues to steam rice, and it will steam veggies and even meat(takes a little more time).
Stir-fry veggies and a bit of meat, add to rice, one healthy meal in about 15-20 minutes. There's two pans to wash, plus your dishes.
Baking veggies with a bit of meat in the oven, takes 10 minutes to prep, and 30 minutes or so to cook. Less time if you use a microwave. Cooking from scratch is not that scary or time consuming if you're not cooking haute cuisine five course meals.
I know some people can't seem to lose weight, but there's no excuse for them not working because they are fat. I weighed 280 lbs at my heaviest, still working, with health issues too. I know people with MS who work, and paralyzed folks in wheelchairs that work... they have no excuse other than "I'm lazy".

Re: Too fat to work...
It isnt hard to cook at home if you can go home. For alot of people they have to lead double lives, go to school then go to work or from one job to another. Or people with kids have to go to work then go pick up kids and go directly to soccer game etc. Now you are faced with fast food as the only option. I often go from one thing to another with no time in between to even hit a drivethrough sometimes. You leave the house in the morning and dont return till midnight. Its those days that make it hard to eat right. I often forget to all together and then I realize Ive been out and about for 10 hours and still havnt had breakfast. So I find myself looking for the healthiest quickest meal I can find. Not a lot of options. I go to arbys since thier stuff isnt too bad, not greasy burgers, at least they have shaved roast beef on a bun and you can get a salad.

Re: Too fat to work...
Eating fresh and healthy is expensive! Not to mention, it all spoils so quickly....
We rely a lot on pastas and frozen skillet dinner things, canned stuff..... Dont eat a ton of meat or fresh veggies. meh

I usually start out with a normal Targeteer's breakfat, a Snicker Bar, Dr. Pepper and a smoke. For lunch it's usually fast food, and I'm a big fan of Cocoa Pebbles for dinner.

Re: Too fat to work...
I do all of the cooking at my boyfriends house, and so I make healthy dinners. I'm doing a stir fry Saturday, and a really nice chicken on Sunday. I usually make eggs in the morning(egg whites, peppers, onions, mushrooms) and things like that. We don't drink soda. We drink tea(splenda) and/or water.
It is a struggle for me right now, because I did quit smoking, but it's worth it to be healthy. I go on walks, I stretch, I work out. Slowly but surely, I'm losing the weight. I'll admit it. I'm fat. The great thing is that I'm not making excuses and I'm working on getting healthy.
Oh, and before anyone growls at me about the cheesecake in the Richmond thread, that's a 100calorie cheesecake that tastes like it's 15000 calories. Oh yeah. I'm awesome. -Does a little dance.- Oooh. I've got a jiggly butt. O_o
