The unofficial newbees guide to forum lingo...

Maybe once we get a complete list we can get our mods to put together a BP.net specific dictionary....

Re: The unofficial newbees guide to forum lingo...
Well, I know a lot of us use 1337 chat lingo, so let's break this down.
1337=Leet; Elite. C'mon. There's a hierarchy in every society, including the online ones.
1=L
3=E
4=A
5=S
7=L
8=the sound "ate"
0=O
I'm sure there are more, but that's a good starter.
FTW= For the win.
ROFL=Rolls On Floor Laughing
Sterilite, Iris, Rubbermaid=They're plastic tubs/containers used in racks and as singular enclosures. More importantly, they're the manufacturers.
Normal=a wild type, non-morph ball python.
Melanie Ryan Seals
2.2 Royal Pythons; Hadrian(het. albino), Lucius(het. hypo), Ophelia(normal) and Regan(het. albino).
1.0 Homo sapien boyfriendidus; Nick AKA Daddy. s

Re: The unofficial newbees guide to forum lingo...
go job so far! would anyone care to define dimmer VS thermostat? I certainly know what they are but don't have enough brainpower left to define them accurately...
Here is 2 more:
Quarantine room : It is a special section of the forum where sensitive threads go... politics, religious, controversial threads start up or end up there. You have to ask a Admin (in red) of the forum for permission to enter via Priavte Message.
PM : sending a message to an individual member of the forum.

Reason: clarifying...Ask an Admin, not a Mod :)

Rheostat/Dimmer = Controls temperatures by reducing the flow of electricity.
Thermostat = Controls temperatures by switching off the flow of electricity based on the temperature.

Re: The unofficial newbees guide to forum lingo...
A Dimmer or rheostat works by limiting or increasing the amount of electricity going to the heat source. You have to adjust it manually and keep an eye on the heat source temperature, adjusting it up to several times a day.
A thermostat has a temperature sensing probe that will adjust the amount of electricity automatically to a user set temperature. You set the temp once and leave it alone, just be sure the temperature in the enclosure is correct (it will not always be what the thermostat says).
Hope this helps... Does this mean I win?
