For post touchup, I use photoshop.
We use a light tent covered in muslin cloth and three white light flourescent bulbs. (Brilliant light is key!!)
We own a canon digital rebel xt, and a couple of canon len's, I think one is a 55mm, and the other goes up to 80mm. Both are very handy, but I like the 80mm because it goes down to 35m, which means I don't have to be standing 10 feet back to get the animals in the view.
I suggest you save up and get a dslr when you can. You will be amazed at the quality of your photo's when just set on auto!
I'm hoping to save up and get an even better Canon dslr when I have the money, but those things cost some money.And... I'm a noob when it comes to photography, I need to learn the technical side better before I go investing in a higher end camera.
