New Boa
So, I just bought a colombian red tailed boa earlier today and I was wondering if there is a certain way I can find out if it has IBD so it doesn't spread it to my ball python?

Re: New Boa
I'm not sure if there's any way to know. Some RTBs go years before showing signs of having IDB, but that is really something you should have looked into before getting the RTB. Is the Boa in quarantine?

Re: New Boa
if proper quarantine protocol is taken, then your ball python should be fine, if your boa happens to have ibd. there still isnt a whole lot known about ibd at this time. last research and articles ive read, showed that they are going up the route that a specific snake mite may be the culprit. but who know, the bad part of ibd in boas, is they can be a host for it for years and years. pythons tend to show signs and die much sooner. so all you can do is qurantine for a few months, if no sign then resume as normal. still always practice as aseptic techniques as possible, handle other snakes first then boas, wash and disinfect your hands and any other parts of the body the boa has touched, etc.

Re: New Boa
I did put the Boa into quarantine and the two snakes are on opposite ends of the house in separate rooms. I was planning on keeping it in quarantine for 6 months like a few of the articles I read had said. She's also making these squeaking noises that sound a lot like a kitten meowing. Has anybody heard about a boa making these noises when they are stressed?
