Re: Possibly taking in a sick snake, what now?

If you are interested in rescue projects, why not try craigslist? I usually see tons of ball pythons in need over there, and you can usually get them for free.

Re: Possibly taking in a sick snake, what now?

First, I would not pay a single dime for it. Why reward them for not caring for the snake in their care?

IF you get it( and I would hope you'd only take it if you can convince them to give it to you for free), you should quarentine it FAR away from any other reptiles or birds you may have. NO cross contaimination. Seperate everything, and forget hand sanitizer, use a decontaiminating solution from a vet.

You'll probably have to take it direct to a vet to check for parasites and infection. While it's on antibiotics(if it's necasry) it will not eat. Clean paper substrate, good humidity, fresh water changed daily. Maybe a humid hide, and lots and lots of hiding spots, maybe some crumpled paper balls to help it feel secure.
Good luck, but please don't pay money to them for the snake.

No, there is no way you can make them give you the snake. Not to mention, they are in the business to sell snakes, not take care of them, or give them away.

If you end up buying this BP, you are simply supporting the machine that put this snake in the condition it's in right now...and 3 weeks down the road, there will be another one just like it. Why? Because you financed it. Sorry, but that's the way it is.

Sorry if you think this is a negative post, and it breaks your "no negative posts" rule, but from my perspective, the truth is generaly never negative.
