is it ok for me to pop my ball python?

well before doing anything i want to know if its ok for me to pop my ball python i've seen some videos on youtube from ralph davis and i think i can do it. What do you think?

Now, maybe I'm just paranoid, but I would take your snake to a person with much more experience and have them show you first before you go it alone. -Shrugs.- We're so much stronger than they are, and if you're not careful...

I took mine to a local reptile show where i had my normal sexed and learned how to sex by a very experienced breeder. dont be afraid to go out there and ask for help. If you think you can do it than give it a shot but i would be very careful.

Yea I would def take it to someone who has experience and can demonstrate to you in person. I would try a specialty store or a breeder, you would more than likely have to pay at a vet's. There's this really nice guy at the reptile store where I get my rats, he has popped any of mine that I ever wasn't sure about. But especially if they are adults it's more risky because you can actually damage their sex organs since they're fully developed.

I have yet to try.....Adam from 8-ball has a nice video showing how its done but you cant judge how much push pull squeeze they are doing....I have gotten all my bp's from reputable breeders so I just them when they say its a boy or girl.........bhb, ralph davis and bob clark......I would second that when I attempt breeding I will observe and learn with supervision from someone who can educate me correctly the feel to popping a ball......

It's always nice to have someone show you popping or probing but you can try it on your own. Actually I think probing is much more difficult and risky if it's done wrong or too roughly. If you're trying to pop a young snake or hatchling it really shouldn't require much pressure at all. Go slow, be very gentle, do exactly what the videos from Ralph Davis or Adam Wysocki say to do. If you really feel unsure, then find someone to show you how it's done.

You have to realize that if you do it incorrectly, you could really damage you snake. That being said, I started popping my snakes from watching videos on the internet. I didn't have any issues, and actually found it very easy to do. It is much easier to pop smaller snakes than larger ones.

well actually my bp is about 1 and a half but im going to ask my pet store eithr ways thanks for your and everybody's advice
