    Corn not coiling on prey?

Fed my new corn for the first time. The little guy was all too happy to take his hopper. Dangled in front of his nose just like with the BP, but instead of coiling it and 'killing' it he simply bit it and hung on till i let him have it, then swallowed. Is this typical of corns when feeding f/t or p/k?

It can be typical when they eat live as well... nothing worse than hear a rat pup mewing while being swallowed live.

One of the reasons I only feed my corns FT.

Some do and some do not, and just to keep in interesting they may not be consistent. Hit and coil one week, mosey up and start swallowing the next.

I noticed right off the bat that she was a much easier feed than my BP though, just open the cage drop the mouse and she'll catch practically.

Some of my corns are the laziest eaters I have ever seen. I get tired of holding the prey and letting Ember, my motley girl, sniff the heck out of it. I just end up dropping it in front of her and she starts to eat it right away.

On the other hand I have Morkai, my granite, who grabs and wraps so violently that he has almost fallen out of his tub.

For the most part, my corns are the laziest eaters I have ever seen. On the occasion I have fed them live though, they still know what to do.

My two corns are way easier to feed then my ball. The F/t mice/rats never get a killer coil response but a live one will automatically get them coiling. My normal(on pinky rats the other on fuzzy mice) will coil so quickly that to be honest it scared me the first time she did it. My ball refuses food and in the 2 months I've owed him he's only aten 2 fuzzy rats and a small one while the corns are a 5-7 day feeders and will go from mice to rats ,live-frozen no problem.
    Too many pets to list!

with your ball. try a small adult mouse at night, late night and no light. mice seem to be a good choice for a stickler ive been told . and a ball python hatching should be able to take a adult mouse easily. offering the mouse might seem like more of a food item to the BP, try live... it may get that feeding response and hopefully get it on a schedule.

Some of my corns constrict and some don't. I have noticed it seems to be something they start doing as they get older and bigger. None of my hatchlings constrict, but my lavender motley that I have raised from a hatchling, does now. He didn't for about his first year.

1 of mine corns wont even bite sometimes. He'll just go up to the mouse and open up and start eating.

Corns that get used to F/T seem to realize they don't need to expend energy killing already dead prey. Happened to every corn I've fed as they got older.

I've never known a snake that feeds better than a corn. They're such pigs!
