    Coconut Husk for BP's

    Hi:

I have been to my local Co Op and they sell a product called "Peats Best" made by Plant Best Inc. It is 100% natural coconut. It comes in the bricks that expand when water is added. Their site www.plantbest.com seems to show that they are a company that is into being very eco sensitive with all their products.

Has anyone ever tried the "Peats Best" for their snakes as bedding? Any input would be greatly appreciated. The product seems very good, will hold moisture for humidity better, looks very natural and is soft, and is completely harmless and biodegradable.

    thanks....

Personally, I would not use this substrate for snakes. People have used it in the past though and I use it for my frog.

It just seams counterproductive to have to "clean dirt" when it comes time to clean out the enclosure. This stuff is really messy and if you don't dry it out properly, very wet.

In my opinion, stick to apsen or paper towels.

Thanks for the input guys. I guess its about whether I want more work to do when cleaning for sake of more natural looks ( not that I hardly have any extra free time now)....lol.

BTW, I'm using Aspen now. It does a good job, I was just possibly interested in some change ( as good as a rest they say).
