Pied genetics
I was thinking today after looking at several different pieds, what is the difference between the high and low whites? Do the 'parent' snakes have to het or be high white themselves in order to throw high whites or can lows pass on the high whites? I was just curious at what makes one have more white than the other.
Also if a het pied was bred to a normal, what would your percentages be? Is there a website or something with a list of possible producers and the offspring that will be recieved?

The parents need to be hets or pied themselves. If you breed two hets you have a 25% chance that each egg with have a pied in it. If a het pied is bred to a normal the offspring would be called 50% hets and if they are proved out they would be 100% hets after that. The nerd site has alot on there. Also a high white can throw low whites and lows can throw highs.
Welcome to the addiction

Welcome to the addiction
Its killing me.... my mind changes every day as to what I want. I am still in love with the axanthics though.I was showing my boyfriend all the different morphs tonight and he really liked the pied... so it just might be our first morph. I am sure they are expensive and thats why I was asking about genetics.
And this addiction is horrible... I never liked snakes too much before.....and now I am on this forum every free second I get just reading. I am also losing sleep staying on here til 2 in the morning!

Re: Pied genetics
It only gets worse btw....and yes they are kinda expensive. I think somewhere around $1500 is where I see them sell for. I have a het pied male so I'm just needing a female to complete the set lol. This is one project I've thought about taking my time with.

not only does it get worse but for most addictions they have places where people get together and talk about there problem and they get better they call it rehab, for us we have places where we talk to people with the same prob but we get worse they call it expos

Re: Pied genetics
You know... I didn't like the Pieds at first. But they have really grown on me. I sort of wish they didn't because of the price tag!

Re: Pied genetics
I agree. The pieds were always nice looking to me but didnt strike me as one that I would like to have. But the more I look at them, the more I change my mind. I especially like the ones with higher white... but not too much.
