how do you recognize dinkers?

A dinker for me, may not be a dinker for you.

You look for unusual patterns, hooks in the pattern, clear bellies, or bellies similar to other subtle morphs. Look for uber light babies, or uber dark babies. Just something that looks different enough from wide range of normals that you think it's worth trying to see if you can prove it out. If you can't, well, you still have a cool animal in your collection!

It does take time just perusing sites and seeing what others see in their dinkers, especially those that prove out. Eventually, you'll get an eye for what's different.

Most subtle morphs, like the chocolate and the fire started out as 'dinker' projects. People see something a little different and try it out. Lucky for us!!
I have a couple of young dinkers that will hopefully be ready by next year. They'll be going into combos that will allow me to see if the visual characteristic follow thru.
I have one female with markers for pied. She'll go to my cinnamon male and then any cinnamon females will be kept to breed to the pied I'm working(hoping!) on.

Dinkers are alot of fun, just no guarantees lol
