Awww poor thing was grabbed by a bird of prey? Hope it survives the injury and the shock and the DNR folks are able to rehab and release it.

I didnt Know hawks ate snakes. but the snake dropped a good distance. but the puncture marks from the talons were through and through. Snake was dead in pictures.

Looked in the pics like a big injury, yes birds of prey definitely love to eat snakes, (think about it, easy prey comparatively) Sad to hear it was already deceased, but I can say that it's a good thing you called an agency with the animal being endangered and all. Maybe this sad situation can help to further the survival of this species in your area..

I don't see what's so bad about it. This is nature people. Hawks eat snakes, and they don't care if it's endangered or not.
Kudos to you calling a rescue agency. 
I just don't think like "poor snake" because this is what happens.

yea i wish they werent illegal to own casue he was cool looking.
Hope i can get info back on the guy but i doubt they will tell me. the guy that came to get him was guy from Michigan State University researching Lab.
