i read that the female who lays eggs can incubate them herself is this way good or should i just buy a incubator ?

wow thats awsome ! i think im going to let my female hatch her eggs but what should the humidity and temp be for the eggs to hatch rite ?

No clue when the mom does it.. Louis said he had to mist the substrate everyday for 60 days to get them to hatch.

Using our search engine you should be able to find tons of threads on building a small homemade incubator that's very cost effective. Personally I think maternal incubation is quite possible for an experienced keeper to manage in a captive enviroment but I wouldn't chance it myself. I like managing the eggs in the incubator because I can completely control their environment. Also I like my females to bounce back from the stress of breeding and laying their eggs and start eating again quickly. Losing 60 days to maternal incubation isn't something I'm all that interested in putting my breeding females through but that's a personal decision.

We had a successful experience with maternal incubation last season, but I'm not in any hurry to try it again. IMO it is much easier to maintain the proper environment for successful incubation with a good incubator.

I've also had success with maternal incubation.

But it leaves the female skinny and hollow for a while, and I would not choose to do it again.
