So, this rack project moving along and I just went to Lowes' to check out what's available. They have 2x4 pieces of birch plywood for $11, which is a pretty good price. Although it has oils in it. I've heard this is safe, right? As far as sealants go I know I need polyurathane, but are there any specific brands that people here have had success with? I was looking at Minwax and Zinssar. There are a ton of types within those brands to add to the confusion. Also, should I just seal the bottom side, the side that the snakes are exposed to, or both? My only concern with finishing the top side is flammability, these finishes are combustable dried, are they? They're going to be in contact with flexwatt, so this is a major concern. Well, the end is near in this rack construction, thanks alot for all of the help.
