Here's what I love about MRE's and the Army. You see in the Air Force, we look at the "Do Not Use After" date, and toss them out when they get older than what's recommended. In the Army, they have some logistics dude look the boxes over and re-certify them for another several YEARS after the "Do Not Use" date. Now mind you, he doesn't open one of them and eat it...he just looks at the boxes.

I was in the Army from 1969-72. MRE's were not yet invented. We had C-rations. On an Operation Reforger exercise in Germany in 1971 we were issued C-rations that were dated before the Korean War. They had dates like 1948-51. When we were flown here and there by the MAC we would occassionally eat at places like Dover Air Force Base. The Air Force was serving steak and other quality food. So I win!!!!
