So, uh, I found a corn...
Well, my sister did actually. She and her boyfriend were at the store and they found the little guy in the parking lot. They didn't know what he was, or what to do with him, so they logically decided that grabbing the unknown snake by the tail and putting it in a shoebox in their trunk and taking him to me was the most logical choice (lol.).
So, it's a little cornsnake. It looks fine, weight-wise, but I suspect it's a recent escapee, since it has a number of recent injuries, but no old scars. No kinking, no bleeding or signs of infection, no raspy breathing, no oozing wounds, no scale rot. Except for being thoroughly freaked out and those burns/cuts/whatever, he looks fine. And he's pretty! I also suspect he's an escapee because he let my sister's boyfriend walk over and pick him up, and he hasn't tried biting or flailing around, no hissing or peeing, either. He's really calm about being handled, and let me touch his head to get a better look at the injury on it.
At the moment, I have him set up in a spare 10 gal tank I had laying around, on white paper towels (though I didn't see mites). He's got a water bowl, UTH, some crumpled up paper towels to hide under--I was just making sure that's alright for him. I plan on finding him a new home, since my mom doesn't want me to keep him (lol, she's unhappy enough about the ones I've already got, and the fact that I intend to breed) and because I've never owned a corn before and don't know that much about them.
Lol, I thought he was REALLY skinny until I showed a friend of mine who owns 5-6 corns a picture of him, and she told me he was perfect in weight.
But at the moment I don't know where to take him--not to a pet store, obviously--and I don't want to list on craigslist, since I don't trust it. My friend knows a girl who might want him, but they live like 6 hours from me. So--can I get some tips on caring for him until I find him a home? I know the 10gal is too small, but it's only a temporary thing. And, if you want an unsexed corn of questionable age and origin, with a few little cuts and possibly burns and a few missing scales, who's pretty good about being picked up, and live in the Northeast Florida area, I'm your go-to girl! I haven't tried probing for several reasons; besides not wanting to stress him further, I don't know how deep corns probe. XD And he's just so tiny! I'll attach pics. I have NO idea what morph he is, but he's really pretty.
This first picture is one I snapped really quick before cleaning out the 10gal and prepping it for him. I had put him in that box just to keep him from escaping for the time being.

This one is a good show of his size.

Here's his head. It looks as though the scales on that left side were scraped off or something--perhaps when he was escaping? I'm really not sure.

XDD sorry, I went picture crazy. I love his belly pattern--it's like a checkerboard pattern!! Anyways. If you know what morph he is, or if you have any advice, please tell me. I'm off to check out cornsnake caresheets.
