Okay so my ball python sometimes makes a really weird noise – it’s a ‘chirp’ or a ‘meep’, almost like a bird. Very high-pitched squeak. She’ll do this only on occasion, maybe once or twice a month, seems tied to annoyance. I think it’s pretty cute, personally, but is this normal or just an individual quirk? She’s done this ever since I got her.
Also, this snake has a creative streak – at night when she’s active, she will sometimes spend her evening building tunnels in her aspen bedding. The network is becoming rather complex. I know that bp’s live in burrows, but they’re not really a ‘burrowing’ species… are they? I just wonder what goes through my python’s brain when she decides she wants a tunnel.
(This is not due to inadequate hides or heat; I follow this site’s caresheet to the exact degree and she only burrows when she’s normally active/roaming at night.)
