Not to disclaim your argument, but that's a bad example to support your argument. It was determined that another Alligator killed the snake and the belly burst open during the decomposition process. It wasn't because the prey itme was too big.

You really don't need to overfeed in an attempt to "catch up." I have learned first hand that offering an oversized meal can lead to a rediculously long fast.
