I think that's a bit too much of a generalization. Any snake can be nippy or strike for a variety of reasons - some of which we humans will never figure out. Some are like that a lot, some rarely, some grow out of doing it all the time, others don't. I doubt gender has much to do with it other than as mentioned above, females on eggs.

That's usually how it is in the human world right?
Maybe female snakes are like female humans and are just more picky who we're nice to.
