So my parents cleaned my balls tank last night and set him up with new bedding (back on substrate after mite treatment, they are completely gone by the way, thanks to everyone who helped) after I went back to school. (Why they didn't just have me do it before I left or when I got back is beyond me, I guess it was a Christmas present.) Anyhow, when they returned him to the tank, he cruised around for a while and didn't really settle down. Since it's feeding time and he definitely didn't seem worried by his "new" surroundings, they decided to toss a mouse in with him. (He eats f/t.) Getting to the point, he went to it, investigated, sniffed, moved back and forth over it, and NEVER STRUCK. There was a little bit of bedding stuck to it, so he proceeded to GENTLY pick it up, carry it to the water and dangle it in. Once it was clean, he swallowed. I didn't witness this, but my parents did, they're not ones to lie and that's a pretty goofy story to make up. Has anyone ever seen this kind of behavior before? It sounds like a pretty high thought process that I wouldn't think a snake was capable of. (On the other hand, he might just like his food wet...)
