Last night, our 6 yr old son was handling Mrs. Snake. She fell a few feet to the floor (she has fallen on her own before w/out ill effect). I gave Ryan a short speech about being careful and to hold her while on the bed or couch so she can't fall far if something does happen.

He put her in his pajamas to warm her up (she's still pretty small); I said it was time to put her back and got her out as gently as I could.

I put her back in her tank. She immediately rose to the top of the tank, as if saying, "No, I don't want to go back yet." I put the screen back on. I watched her start to go over to her hide, when I noticed her left lower lip looked weird - hanging out and down a little. It looked like the equivalent of a "busted lip," but not as swollen. Most likely, it was from the fall, but could've been from pulling her out of his pajamas.

I freaked out and was so worried. I took her out of her tank again to see what was wrong. When I started inspecting her lip, it started to look less droopy. Then I realized what had happened. Two or three teeth on the lower left side, toward the front of her mouth, had gotten stuck in her upper gums. There was no bleeding or apparent tooth injury.

I got my husband to help - he slid a paper envelope into her mouth, as I used my index finger to pull up gently on her nose to open her mouth. In five seconds, all was well! And we put her back in her tank to rest/recover.

I was so relieved and happy that I was able to figure out the problem and we helped her! She never hissed at us, though I did restrain her between my legs. We'll give her the day off from handling today and tomorrow, then she gets to eat tomorrow night - after a month of Baytril and Fortaz shots.
