Our gliders have been energetic and healthy for as long as we've had them. Even today, I saw them playing around in the cage. We did notice that Opellio was becoming very territorial over his food but we made sure both were getting enough. I will admit though, we have not taken the boys out for play time as we are slowly trying to win them over by just being in the room more often and sitting by the cage.
Tonight we went to get the dishes to feed the gliders and my fiance came running over to me telling me there was something wrong with our boys. I go in to check saying "They are probably just tired from all the playing they did today) but when I go in to check them out I was horrified. They can barely walk!
They hardly have any sense of balance and their ears are held back. They have no energy to speak of and they wobble when they move anywhere. We are afraid they will fall from the top of the cage and hurt themselves as one has already demonstrated that he had no balance. We are worried sick about them and I will be at the vet's door tomorrow morning before they even get to work.
What could this be? We keep them in the same room as rats, mice, snakes, and one lizard. Also, one of our breeder mice died yesterday at the young age of 11 weeks old (she was to be upgraded to breeder once she was 12 weeks old). It was very sudden and she had similiar syptoms to the boys. Lethargic though she did try and right herself when off balance. She made attempts to eat and I gave her water but she died a few hours later. It was very sudden, much like what is happening to our boys, so I am scared to death.
Anyone? Help? Please?
