I searched the archives but still don't feel like I'm comfortably informed - perhaps some situation-specific advice would help?
I'm breeding a 1000g+ male harlequin het albino to a 2600g+ female normal. I started introducing them at the beginning of November, and I got some definite, good solid locks that lasted sometimes more than a day at a time.
I did the on and off method for a few weeks, introducing him for a couple days after random, multiple day breaks. For the first 3 or more intros, the locks were good and obvious. For the past two, however, I haven't caught them locked up at all. Perhaps I'm missing it? Perhaps she's all set and needs nothing more from him? Also, her scales are feeling feathery and ragged the way they do before they shed, but before they actually turn blue (you know what i mean?)
I am pretty sure i'm feeling follicles (i check for them from time to time, and they're rather large but firm). She's still hanging out on the warm side, and shows no interest in food. The male is in shed right now, so he's on break. I guess i'll throw him back in there after he takes care of that.
I guess my question is - Now what? Do i keep introducing them? I've seen no bowl wrapping or cool-side seeking..
Thanks for any and all help.![]()
