Im newb with BP's

Im just going to get a dimmer, and on the dimmer ill write the different heats.and ill move it away from the wall because the walls temps can varry.

That only works if the temperature in the room stays exactly the same, all the time. Otherwise you will "set it at 90F" when the room temp is 65F, and when the room temp rises or falls, the snake temp will vary (sometimes greatly).
