Here's the thing: I just got my new RBI 4x2 cage and need to set it up to run a few days and get temps and such right. My problem is that I need to plug the flexwatt of the new cage into the t-stat that is currently hooked up to her current glass tank setup in the same spot where the new cage will go.

question 1 - Can I place her tank on top of the new cage and not have the UTHs from the tank affect the new cage temps?

question 2 - If the temps would be affected, how high off the top surface of the new cage would I have to raise the tank (or what kind of material would I have to put between them) to avoid this?

If only I had a spare t-stat...but I could barely afford the ones I have. I have to keep her tank temps the same while I set up the new cage to get those temps stable for her to move in...and only have the one stat. I do not want to have to put her tank on the floor, since it's cold down there, but have few other options since the probe from the stat won't stretch that far.

Any and all answers to this dilemma are greatly appreciated! Thanks.
