The average ecological footprint of a single person in the United States is 24 acres. I took this quiz to find out what my ecological footprint is and while I am below the average, I'm still ashamed of myself.
My Breakdown:
Food: 2.7 Acres
Mobility: 0.2 Acres
Shelter: 7.2 Acres
Goods/Services: 6.7
Total FootPrint: Around 17 Acres
^as a tidbit. I guessed on the size of my grandparent's house because I have no earthly idea what the square footage is.
Total available acres per person: 4.5
So I'm way off what I should be. The results of the quiz said that if everyone in the world lived like me, we would require 3.8 planets!
Even though it was a small little quiz that did not get too much into detail, I do realize that I'm having a very negative impact on the enviroment and so I will begin to find new ways to decrease my ecological footprint.
Take the quiz yourself. See how big your footprint is.
