This week I picked up a yearling male woma. This is my second male and third woma.
Today I also scored a Stimsons.
The woma is about 30" long and is like a puppy. My kids have named him "Noodles" because he is so mellow and relaxed. As soon as we enter the room he comes to the front of his cage and begs to be let out. Womas are rapidly becoming my favorite snake - good size, good eaters, mellow disposition and easy to handle.
The Stimson's was a turned in at one of the two local Herp Shops. I estimate him to be about 30 months old. The manger was told he was a little mean SOB from the previous owner.
However, the manager has held him a half a dozen times without incident and I held him today for about 25 minutes - he was one of the calmest snakes I've ever handled. He literally wrapped himself around my left forearm and hung out with his head resting between my index finger and thumb. I walked around the store looking for supplies and all the new arrivals with him in the same position. His breathing stayed nice and slow............what a great snake.
I even got to hand feed him . He swallowed his entire fuzzy rat while I held him.
I seem to have the Aussie Python bug. The Australian collection now stands at:
2.1 womas
1.1 anthills
1.1 spotteds
1.1 children's
1.0 Stimsons.
I plan on taking some shots next week after we have everyone settled in. In the meantime, I guess I'll get one more cage and keep my eye peeled for a female Stimsons.
