I've read a bit about female snakes during their breeding cycles and how their attitude can change but is it seen in male snakes?

Malachi our 05 100% het albino from 8Ball is going through his first breeding experiences. He's been cycled in with one of our adult females three times now (well rested between each visit to her). He is currently refusing to eat which is totally unlike him but makes sense if his snakey mind is on the ladies. He is heavily in blue right now so not being paired up this week at all.

Now Malachi's always been a hissy snake. That's just his way to grumble about everything but he's never been a snake that struck out at us or tried to bite no matter what. This week he is a whole different snake. I had to drop a cloth on his head in order to change his water as he was seriously trying to nail Mike. Boy was Mal in a mood LOL and boy is he fast! No way could we even think of tapping him on the noggin with the water bottle, he was coming at anything that moved and he's got a good strike range! He's a good sized male at around 1,200 grams and he would pack a bit of a punch I think if he connects.

So do some male snakes get snitzy during the breeding season? He's never acted up during a shed cycle like this but perhaps his hormones plus the shed keeping us from letting him back in with a female is making him crabby. Any thoughts folks?
