I don't know why I'm excited by this - but you guys would understand!
Yesterday I fed my first rat. I've been strictly a mouser - mainly because they are easier to get than rats for my smaller kids.
My pet store won't sell rat pups, not because they are against it, but because if they wait another week, they can sell them at full rat prices.
So, last week was my first time feeding my biggest girl, Sarah, and I fed her two mice - after a three week acclimation period - she had an awesome feed drive.
So, I stop by yesterday to pick up mice and decided I'd go ahead and get a small rat for her and see if she'd take it.
She took it great! Although, I do have to say that feeding a rat was harder on me than feeding mice. The rat was very sweet and very calm compared to the mice - I can see how they endear themselves to people as pets.
So, excitement for the rat feeding for the big girl and since I was feeding anyway, decided to see if Sierra would eat too. She was like "are you kidding me??? of COURSE I want to eat too!".
So, everyone eating - except Kashmire - who will be moved to a tub set up this weekend - I hope that helps to get him feeding again.
