I'm currently adjusting/messing with the temps in Gomez's enclosure before he arrives Wed, and I was curious as to where exactly is the best place to put the Flukers digital temp/humidity thinger for the best readings. Right now I have it on the floor of the tub admist the substrate, but I'm worried about water spillage or him simply squishing it as he gets holder, as well as not getting the most accurate humidity readings right on top of the heat like that.
I'm still regulating the t-stat, but living in Arid-zona it's the humidity I'm sure I'm going to need to worry about. Falkor sheds perfect without trouble in our apartment and he's in a glass crittercage, but he's a corn snake and there isn't a space heater in the livingroom like there is in the bedroom. I'm being an extra paranoid mommy and trying to get it all perfect before he gets here.
This is the kind of tub I'm using, love the locking lid, but of course his doesn't have any filing stuff in it like the pic. I really need to find a couple of nice clay hides I can soak for shedtime or something instead of the empty tissueboxes he'll be starting with, but all in good time.
Mostly I'm just worried about accurate temp readings right now while I get the whole thing situated. Should I keep the Flukers thinger on the bottom or up somewhere on the side? Middle? Where would be most accurate for both heat and humidity?
