OMG!! I have just had THE MOST fantastic reptile day of my life!! I joined the Toledo Herpetological Society a few months after I got my first snake, and it has paid off wonderfully! We had a picnic and herp demo at a state park south of Toledo (Van Buren, OH) today. We have a picnic and talk, then get out reptiles and show them (off) to any of the folks at the park that would like to see them. One of the women in the society has had snakes for 20+ years and most of the ones there today were hers. Today I got to hold, and help show, 1) 10ft BCI female, 2) 9ft dwarf retic male, 3)7ft dwarf yellowhead retic female , 4) 6ft pine male 5) 5ft 18YO Ball python female, 6) 4ft GTP Sorong (I think) female, and 7) 5ft Yellow Anaconda female, along with my own 2 males that I took with me. I thought they were getting big, but after handling all those monsters, they look like babys again. shae had a few more BP's that she broughtto show as well, but with all the others to choose from, I didn't know where to turn!!!! The yellow head female dwarf is now the most gorgeous snake I have ever seen! ! and the GTP was just given to her six years ago by a friend moving away to an area she new she would not be able to pick up food for her!!! AN adult, female GTP with an enclosure; for FREE!! I lost track of how many times I told her I hate her today. Come to find out, she has been doing this so long, and has made the right connections; when people cal the Toledo Zoo looking to get rid of snakes or other herps, They refer them to her!!! Tell you what I am going to become fast friends with this woman She has said before she has a difficult time talking on large herp rescues anymore do to health issues, so I told her if she EVER needs any help, to give me a call. I really enjoy just being exposed to all the different herps, but hey, if I can get something out of it, what the hey
