Sharing as an FYI in case anyone is interested. Dr. Brandenhoff is an ER physician and toxicologist who specializes in snakebite; he is also one of the admins of the National Snakebite Support Group on Facebook. He published the paper about the first recorded incidence of thrombocytopenia after a Hognose bite. The FB group is excellent, btw, and you can get emergency info there if you/kids/pets are bitten by a venomous snake. Last week they were dealing with a frantic mom whose three kids all got bitten by a copperhead. God only knows how those kids were acting for that to happen, but mom got good info to convey to the ER docs.
Dr. Brandenhoff holds these Zoom meetings every spring, and they are helpful as the weather warms up and we/pets/kids and snakes are out and about more often. The group discussion is as basic or as medically advanced as participants want to take it.
Note that you do need to email him to request an invite to the Zoom meeting. His email is at the bottom of the announcement. And he does request that participants make a donation to the Asclepius Snakebite Foundation, but that is a request and not a requirement.
