    It shouldn't be. They can behave in a way where they're poking their heads outside of the opening, or even hiding back in the safety of their egg for a number of days whilst they soak up all goodness left in the egg.

    I'm sure if you went to touch the snakelet, it would soon retreat back into its shell.
