    Just clarify ... there is ALWAYS a bowl of reasonably fresh water in his viv - at all times ... isn’t there ?

    Not sure if this is what op means but my snake pretty much always drinks after I handle her and then put her back. There's a bowl of water in her viv at all times. But pretty much without fail if I've handled her she meanders around a little and then takes a drink after I put her back. I think she's just using the excuse to grab a drink before she goes back to hide. Maybe it's the same?
