Question Adult females who just never breed?

I was inquiring about an adult female and the honest seller told me that he's had this female (looking at least 1800g) for a year and a half, and she has never even locked with his males before, even though he's tried pairing her. And thus she obviously didn't lay eggs with him. According to the seller, she also has never been proven yet with her previous owner either, so she is listed at a really low price for being an adult female.

I'm just curious how rare is it for adult females to just never be able to breed? Is it possible? I'm wondering what my chances are if I just go for it and try, even though the previous owners have failed... The male I am thinking of breeding to her of course being proven many many times already.
