I’ve recently become really interested in building a paludarium, something pretty large, but with a small amount of water. Either a small river running along the front or a just a pond-like area in a corner of the terrarium. I was debating between garter snakes, rough green snakes or possibly something else? Something that could tolerate a good amount of humidity, stays relatively small and would sometimes utilize the water and height of the enclosure.. . I’m open to suggestions although I am really wanting a trio of rough greens :/. I know most that you buy online are wild caught which I’ve always stayed away from, also that they stress incredibly easy and don’t tolerate handling well which is totally fine with me, I’m just looking for something to love, observe and that would hopefully thrive in a big planted paludarium .

Does anyone know of any breeders of rough greens, or garters. I’ve seen a few offered on morph market. Would you take the risk of buying a wild caught animal(s) if they would be properly quarantined and maintained away from your collection completely? What other species would you recommend? Thanks in advance for all and any advice!
