So I pulled the trigger on a VE-6. After much debate I decided that this would be the best enclosure for the next year or so. I was going to buy a few adult snakes, but due to some changes in my living situation I just don't have room for the V180 right now, and the CB-70 is just too large for my current snake. I am going to run 2 different sets of heat tape so I can keep Blood Pythons and Retics in the same rack. I've also been debating on the species I wish to keep. I keep coming back to SD Retics and Blood pythons. I also have a cage for a ATB or GTP. All in all when I am done I will have 6 snakes. for the arboreal snake the colors aren't important. Whats important to me is CB and the attitude of the snake has to be semi decent. I love to hold my snakes. So it has to be a snake that can be handled. I don't mind if its a bit nippy or defensive, but I don't want an outright aggressive snake. After I get to the point where the VE-6 is just too big I plan on filling it with Hognose snakes, or KSBs. Unless I change my mind and I decide to breed then its sorta obvious what I will be doing with the VE-6. As far as what I will buy, I am thinking on 2 female Bloods for a 1.2 set, and then a 1.1 of Retics. this way If I do decide to breed I will have a decent set. Now as far as morphs the retic is the one snake that I am willing to accept a normal phase. Or I will do one normal het albino, and one albino. I know the morph I will stay away from is genetic stripe. I dont care for the striped Retics. After reading and researching the SD retic I found that the SD retic grow to the size of the female. So percentage isn't too important. I want a retic that tops out around 12 to 13 feet. Basically the smaller the better.
